The Igede First-class Chief, His Royal Highness, Chief Oga Ero has sent the good people of Igede kingdom a goodwill message and a warning at the same time. He congratulated his people for making it this far, despite all the security challenges and the covid-19 pandemic which have claimed several lives in the country and beyond.
It is no longer news that the country is not very safe for large jamboree of any kind as ethnic clashes has been the order of the day. Recall that igedeonline.com has been reporting the incessant clash between the Ukpute and Bonta people of Benue State which has degenerated to an unresolvable fracas between the two neighboring communities who have been living together peacefully for so long and the herdsmen attacks in the country. HRH Chief Oga Ero (CP. Rtd) has therefore warned everyone at home (Oju/Obi) to celebrate the year’s new yam festival in a low-key and as well be security conscious.

The announcement which was signed by the Omi Ny’Igede National Public Relation Officer, Comrade John Okpong reads in part:
“The Adirahu Ny’Igede, Chief Oga Ero (CP. rtd) and the Igede Intermediate Traditional Council (IITC) have directed that this year’s Igede Agba celebration be low keyed and should be held in individual homes. Consequently, all branches, groups and organisations are hereby directed to note strictly for adherence.
The President General Omi Ny’Igede, Dr. Ben Okpa and his National EXCO wish you a happy and peaceful celebration”.
Similarly, award winning Igede singer, Mr Yukay Befelow has reportedly cancelled his planned show for the Igede Agba Celebration in Lagos due to the announcement directing every Ol’Igede to celebrate the year’s Igede Agba in a low-key. The Igede Agba crooner who said “no one goes around partying when his roof is on fire” while addressing the Igede Youth Council, Lagos Branch members in their August offline meeting held at Agba Guest House, Iyana Ipaja, advised that “it is a trying time for all Igede People across the globe and not just the ones at home”.
Mr Yukay also advised that, all Igede People all-over the world planning different events for the season should be extremely careful. Adding that a report was sent to igedeonline.com Official WhatsApp group on the 1st September that the good people of Ukpute was attacked on 31st August, 2021. He also wished Igede People at home and abroad bountiful harvest, peace, prosperity and many more years to celebrate.
