UKPUTE: A PEACEFUL PLACE NOW IN THE MOUTH OF SHARKS

No man leaves home unless home chases him with fire under the feet, hot fire in the belly and burnt threats in the neck. No one puts his children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land. No one chooses refugee camps or strip searches unless on the run. Everyone would love to go back home after a year, but the case of the Igede people of Ukpute in Ainu Ete of Oju Local Government in Benue State is different as they were chase away from their home by the people of Bonta, the dominant Tiv in Konshisha Local Government of the same State.

To all the people killed in the crisis- may God grant you rest and grant the remaining people fortitude to bear the loss. To all the women and children that are in the refugee camp away from the comfort of their homes, to all that are out of school for more than a year, for women that were pregnant when the crisis started and had delivered in a refugee camp, for all the inconveniences you are experiencing, for lack of food because you are chased away from your farms and source of livelihood, for the rapid deterioration in the health of the aged in the refugee camp, for all the hardship, hunger that seems to have no end; I have a message for you- there is God oooh! and He is watching.

For all those saddled with the responsibilities to help in bringing peace to the communities and have not found it needful and a priority- there is God oooh!
2 Kings 6:26-27 recorded “As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the king!” The king replied, “If the LORD does not help you, where can I get help for you…” God, we the minority and people with no important position in the affairs of the State need your help. Come and rescue us from the mouth of the fierce and angry Bonta people. Save our souls.

Please I think we have some leadership, if the State government can’t fine any solution to this problem, they should raise the issue to the federal.

The politicians representing the constituency behave exactly like Ortom. Maybe they are scared of Ortom. God will reward each and everyone of them.

    Let God help our Land..
Also , we have some call politics in our land, let them seal the face of federal government since the governor didn’t want to do anything about that ,
I suggest that ,we should help ourselves..
