“I Won’t Rest until Peace Is Restored” Akume to Ogewu

The Benue State leader of the ruling All Progressive People’s Party (APC), Senator George Akume has assured Hon. (Evang.) Dr. David Ogewu, that he will not rest until peace is restored to Bonta and Ukpute areas of Benue State. He calls on his Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom to do everything possible to have the boundary between the two communities demarcated, in order to have a lasting solution to the boundary issues, as the first attempt has yielded no positive results. In his words;
“Since the beginning of these crises, I have deployed all my energy and enthusiasm to making sure that peace is brought back to the region. But when we think it is all over, the Bonta militiamen will resume attack on the unsuspecting Ukpute people. The efforts of the executive governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom in bringing an end to the hostilities has not yielded the expected result. Hence, I want to urge the governor to do everything possible to ensure that the boundary between the two communities is demarcated as soon as possible, in order to bring lasting peace to the place” he said.

The former lawmaker who assured the Igede people that they occupy the juicy portion of his heart, promised to do anything within his ability to bring comfort to the souls and the land in general. “On my part, I have contacted the necessary quarters to ensure that security agents are deployed back to the warring areas to maintain peace until permanent solution is proffered. The leader of APC in the state and Honourable Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Distinguished Senator George Akume has assured me that he would not rest until peace is restored to Bonta and Ukpute communities.
