Welcome to another exciting episode of Igede Proverb of the Day. This happened to be the third edition. We are moving on, isn’t it??
Uka iji’ka! No time. Straight to business ?
Igede Proverb:
Obiyo yekee, ahu nyi gbe ilong ka, ahu nyi kaa ri adebe ka.
English translation:
Obiyo says; if you did not take care of yourself, you will not be an adebe.
The above translation was done directly and as you usual, you will barely understand what the proverb really mean. The reason is because, one can hardly directly translate one language to another language and still have the original meaning still maintained.

In nutshellthe proverb “obiyo ya ahu nyi gbe ilong ka, ahu nyi kaa ri adebe ka” means “if you do not take care, you will have yourself to blame”. One has to be careful in life in order to be adebe, because Adebe takes everything into cognizance and thinks before it acts.
I believe you enjoyed this episode of Igede Proverb of the Day. Watch Out for the next one. ??
Igede Ihyoo!!!
