It is no longer a news that the Bonta People of Tiv land have been in war with their Igede neighbors close to a year now. The warring situation which rather deteriorates as the day goes by, took another dimension early this week. How an Igede Traditional Ruler Was Abducted and Killed by Unknown Gunmen.
An Ochoro Community ruler, Chief Okpe Dennis Ijoko was reportedly captured while having his bath, alongside an eight years old child to an unknown destination before he was slain. According to Dr. Ogi John, a Senior Lecturer with Benue State University, Makurdi; “Ochoro community wasn’t at war with any community, the chief was in his bathroom when those militias invaded his community and captured him alongside an eight-year-old child to an unknown destination,”
Daily Post also gathered that the assailants also burnt over 50 houses at Ukpute, the very Community under attack since last year, destroying several valuable property.

However, the State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Anene Sewuese Catherine has denied the incident when contacted. She said she was yet to receive the report. Dr Ogi added that the Benue State Government has deliberately ignored the issue which is yet to be resolved. “This crisis has lasted for a year and the government is keeping deaf ears,” he said.
